Wilderness First Aid - Dolgeville
May 17, 2008
Offered by The Mohawk Valley Chapter. This program is offered to meet the requirements for individuals and organizations based in the Mohawk Valley and throughout the Adirondack Mountain region. The training will be held at the Dolgeville Central School on May 17 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and May 18 from 12 Noon until 4 p.m. This is a 16 hour course Cost is $60. Dress appropriately for outdoor participation, all skills will be conducted in the woods.
Wilderness First Aid is also a good basic course in backcountry emergency response for almost any location. This course is geared for people who work, live or play in remote areas – away from the usual EMS service. Even though the emergency workers near these areas may be trained to search for and rescue those in need, there may be a delay in the notification of assistance, the time required to get to the patient, or in moving the patient to more advanced treatment. It expands the concepts in First Aid: When Help is Delayed to give more detailed information and hands-on skills practice.
